The people who do not understand roles are the ones that gushed about how the new SEC guy was going to come in and dramatically improve our recruiting but then seemingly can't hold him accountable when recruiting has not improved or worsened appreciably overall.
I always understood his role. He was basically an intern before he came here for a basically administrative level position - not particularly of impact - but assisting the real decision makers to organize things - not a very high level position - not highly paid - probably doing a very good job, and having marginal overall impact because the position is not designed to have more impact than that.
That was my expectation going in. That is about how it has worked out. Not much has changed, because the real issues and dynamics of recruiting BYU athletes has not changed.
Low level guy doing a great job in a low level position having marginal impact. That is what I expected and what we got. I am have no doubt he is earning the modest salary he is paid.
