We went to a school where he has relatives and knew the coaches very well. He could have easily trashed on BYU.
I personally listened to one of the coaches approach him and tell him he'd 'gone up to the BYU coaches camp again this year'. He told Brandon that it wasn't nearly as good now that Brandon was gone. He made a couple of leading comments trying to bait Brandon into saying something negative. As we walked away, Brandon said, "I don't know why people do that. I hate it." He avoided every opportunity to trash on BYU. At the dinner, he stood up and joked about his resume and how he 'used to be' a coordinator at a major university and that was all he was going to say about that...
I gained a lot of respect for Brandon that day. I was never too impressed with his coaching results at BYU, but he is a stand up guy with a ton of integrity.
