I find the attacks on Bronco unseemly and do not condone them...but...
If you are going to serve effectively as a public figure in a highly visible Church position, you should project an unprovocative persona.
It's all about the greater mission of the Church for me. Missionaries who are called to serve at the Jerusalem Center are told that their job is to make as many friends as possible for the Church. As far as that objective of making friends for BYU and the Church, Dave Rose is more effective than Bronco, imo. It is very unpleasant to see the kind of personal feud Bronco has going with Whittingham. for example.
Having said that I believe that Dave Rose is more effective in his job, Bronco does enough right so that i do not support his removal. Their won loss performance is not as important as supporting BYU standards and making friends for the Church. I consider them nowhere near John Wooden nor LaVell Edwards on the coaching greatness meter but good enough to make a great team once in a while.
Rose has a chance to make a great team this year.
