Because either:
1. You don't have a wife or kids during this time.
or
2. Your wife and kids cost a lot less than mine do.
OK, in reality. That all sounds well and good, but there are always outlying things that will take a hit. Medical issues could come up, mold could infest your walls, etc. etc.
Not that I DON'T think it's possible. I absolutely think it's possible to make $1,000,000 in 10 years. It's removing ALL the outflow that is the problem (keep it out of US Tax, medical system, stock market mistakes, tithing etc.) People who accumulate a "nest egg" of $1mill in 10 years or less either 1. Are extremely lucky (things just fall right). 2. Workaholics (e.g. surgeons seeing 30+ patients/day) or 3. A combination of those.
