I have a relative who lives a "frugal" rich life...
He created/runs 4 restaurants in the center of a major US city and also have a limousine business so he has cash and also "needs" to look good for clients, investors, etc. He has very nice stuff, but does it on the cheap (for lack of a better word).

He just bought a Porsche Panamera Turbo at half price (he "knows a guy" who bought it off of a pro football players). He has connections with Starwood Hotels so he always stays at the St. Regis, Four Seasons, Westin, but uses points and never books unless he gets a discount. He has connections with Air Emirates so he flies first class whenever traveling international, but only on a discount (like to Dubai, Beijing, Hong Kong, etc.). He has more clothes than his wife (and that's saying something) but buys his shirts/suits/shoes during sales and no time else.

He immigrated to the US years ago and lived poor for quite a while so it's interesting to see him revert to his old ways from time to time. One day we were all visiting Nashville and the whole family sat down to eat and he ran next door to White Castle to buy everyone sliders because it was what he'd eat back in his early days. Nasty things.

The rims on his new Porsche are worth more than my '99 Saturn. Oh, well.
