Each of them added something to the team. They all added leadership and helped KY through his first season as a head coach which KY mentioned several times throughout the season.
Mawot Mag: transfer in from Rutgers. He would lock down the opposing team's best players. He showed grit through the beginning of the season from not playing any minutes in the non-con to starting every conference game. He added reliability on defense, he didn't add a ton of offense at times but had some good offensive games and no doubt helped BYU win some games. None bigger than the stop at the end of the Wisconsin game. IMHO KY needs to find a player next season similar to Mag, who can always be a defensive stoper keeping glued to the other team's best offensive player. Whether this player is on the team right now or in the transfer portal. Mawot had a great last season and I am glad he decided to come to play for BYU for his last season.
Trey Stewart: Trey has been on BYU for his whole college career. Similar to Mo wasn't playing too many minutes throughout the season. Though Trey hadn't been playing many minutes throughout his whole career at BYU. Trey ended up stepping up as a big defensive stopper. He could come in when Mo needed a rest, and you wouldn't see much change in the defensive scoring. He is also a great bench player and you could always see him cheering for his teammates even when he wasn't getting the amount of playing time he wanted. He also commended his mental health and how challenging it was for him not to get much playing time, yet he stuck through and stayed at BYU. He had a great senior season particularly the last couple of games.
Trevin Knell: Trevin Knell has been a pretty consistent three-point shooter this season. Had a couple of games where he wasn't hitting threes but shot 42.9% from three. Trevin Knell got a lot of hate last season, expressly on CB hating all of the shots he was taking. He has improved since then and even when Mark Pope left for Kentucky Trevin said he was staying. Even before KY had even been hired, he showed immense leadership on this whole team and his leadership will surely be a huge thing BYU will be losing. Trevin Knell was one of the players KY kept on mentioning who was helping him through his first season as a head coach.
Fousseyni Traore: Like most of you I will miss the sound of the ROC yelling Foouuss whenever he scores a bucket or a big play. Fous has been consistent throughout the season and has been the best free-throw shooter on the team. He seemed to enjoy his time at BYU and similar to Trey and Tevin has been in the program since he was a freshman. He didn't enter the transfer portal when Mark Pople left and has been just so consistent. He can get the ball down low and shoots 62.8% from FG. Even though he was coming off of the bench he didn't ever seem to mind, and still averaged 17 minutes per game. He might not have been getting the playing time he was hoping for in his senior season but was a consistent asset to the team.
I'm personally going to miss each of the seniors. They each helped contribute to the team so much and each of them helped win at least one game this season. I wish the best for each of them. Go Cougs!
