We are all understandably wallowing in misery following last night's basketball game. Just something to take a little of the edge off for those of us who follow and enjoy the baseball program.

Cougs put a beatdown on a very good WV team last night. Final score 14-5. Some takeaways:

1) Offense continues to roll. 14 runs will win almost every game.

2) Bullpen with another great outing. Reiser and Marx 3.2 IP with zero runs.

3) Nice to see Brett Hansen get into the game to pitch the 9th. He was an elite prospect out of HS. Went to Vandy. Arm injury (assume TJ but unsure). Long road back. Very happy for him.

4) Hurdsman continues to kill it at the plate. Hitting 409 with 1142 OPS.

5) Three RBIs for Watkins. 969 OPS. Has to be one of best 2B in Big12.

6) Easton Jones with a couple of hits including a double. Maybe starting to get untracked.

7) Luke Anderson goes 5-5 with a double. Great game for a really good hitter.

8) Parker Goff might be as fast a catcher as I have seen. Serious speed circling the bases after the LF made an error on his double down the line.

9) Looks like staff is thinking a platoon situation at DH with Painter vs RHP and Schow vs LHP.

10) Vest had a bad game at plate and we still scored 14. Positive as he will likely break out the next couple of games.

This team can finish top six in Big12. If Coon returns would be a big plus.

Will be interesting to see who starts on the mound this evening. Would really help if SP can get through five innings.
