The guy knows everything about swimming, has encyclopedic knowledge about how every swimmer swam at every meet, and above all loves the sport to death. But not in a loud, annoying bro-ish or ironic way.

GameDay needs someone like that and it's weird we don't have a more clear-cut answer given the number of announcers and analysts vying to move up.

Maybe they've all just been doing it too long. It might help if they stayed off Twitter (contrary to what I assume espn thinks). Social media seems to have been bad for Herbstreit.
