I live in the greater LA area and keep getting notifications on my Watch Duty fire alert phone app of new fires. Many are small and are able to be knocked down by fire crews. But there have probably been 15-20 notifications of different fires (each gets a name) in the last three days.

Many of these have to be intentionally set. Some may be fires started in homeless encampments that are left unattended or get out of control, and some may be from power lines that fail during high winds, but I think there are far too many horrible people out there who just want to start chaos. We may never know how most of these start, but it feels like a war zone out there and I wouldn't mind if the cops started telling people they are going to start shooting arsonists.

Yes, of course that is rhetoric. I don't want people to actually get shot. But I wouldn't mind it if they THOUGHT they might get shot . . .
