We have a third bay on our garage that is half the length of the house and we’re thinking about taking it back to the end of the house.

If we do it my understanding is living space above a garage is the cheapest to build so we’re thinking about putting a playroom or a bedroom up there.

Anyone ever done something like this? Is it worth hiring a contractor or trying to GC it myself with some good subs?

Am I going to get quoted one price to have it come back way more expensive?

It sounds like a super big headache but I don’t want to move and want more garage space.
