LOL at this post on my neighborhood facebook group:
Hey folks, I thought I’d share my experience at HEB in Bee Cave while getting air. I left my truck running and filled all 4 tires. While doing so, I observed what seemed to be someone scanning my truck for the key FOB code. I left my key in the truck and I wasn’t more than a couple of feet away, but as I’m filling the tires, the horn is honking in sequence of lock/unlock and the hazards were flashing.
My first thought was I’m dumb and I had the key fob in my pocket, but I verified it was on the dashboard. I then checked the “doors&locks” settings and confirmed the sound horn with lock, with start, and flash lights with lock are all selected and they are.
So not to be paranoid, but the only other reason why the hazards and horn were activated could be because someone is scanning the FOB.
So folks be mindful of your surroundings especially mamas and seniors who are possibly more vulnerable.
As a precaution, I’m going to get my truck scanned at the dealership and possibly change FOB codes.
