Archaea Intervention Needed
Uninformed opinion #413
BYU is struggling because the pieces are greater than the sum of the whole, and although we're ecstatic about the pieces KY was able to recruit in short order, he still was unable to recruit all the pieces he needs to be successful.

BYU still doesn't have a player that can create his own shot when we need one. Hopefully, both Demin and Catchings have the potential to do that, but haven't learned how to do that at the speed and brutality of the game in the Big XII. Both show signs of being able to do that.

None have the talent of creating one's shot as the little guard from TT or Houston's Sharp.

Demin needs a true shooter to complement him. There isnt' one on BYU's roster. Sanders is a scrappy third option type player, not a first or second option. Catchings may be there by season's end.

We have no offensive talent inside that would be competitive with the top of the Big XII. The talent isn't. Until he floundered, the Egyptian Magician gave us something unique. We don't have that this year. Fouss, love him, can't compete consistently with the top centers and forwards, due principally to his height. Keita is very limited this year offensively. We have nobody else.

So this BYU is extremely limited offensively. It will be a miraculous even to qualify for the Tournament, and if they sneak in, to win one game. Many of us bought into the hype, yours truly included, but this BYU team is very limited. Taking Jax, the Louisville Two, away was very harmful to this year's productivity.

IFF, Demin and Catchings develop quickly, BYU has a chance to be near the middle of the Big XII. Otherwise, it will be in the bottom third. Fingers crossed.
