Its the coldest and darkest month of the year, everyone is sick, everyone is tired of seeing family from the holidays in December, its tied for the longest month of the year at 31 days, its close enough to Christmas that you get all your birthday/Christmas presents all within a few weeks . Trying to put together a birthday party just sucks during this month. We've settled on using the Church gym to have a bounce house rental in it. When he gets older we're going to have to take him somewhere warm and nice to make up for such a crappy birth month.
