Question about foul disparity...
BYU has often been called for more fouls than their opponent. Some have speculated that the refs either have it in for BYU or are in the tank for the other team, or something.

But my opinion is that, generally, the refs are trying to do the best job they can and officiate the game consistently and fairly. So, if that is the case, what's the cause of the disparity?

1. BYU just commits more fouls than its opponents.

2. Other teams are, overall, more athletic so they get the benefit of the doubt.

3. Opponents play a more aggressive style (often much more aggressive style). Their hands are always swatting after the ball and trying to cause havoc. The refs get used to that as the normal style of play for that team and don't call things as tightly as they do against BYU which doesn't play as aggressively.

4. Something else?

Personally, I think there may be some truth to #3, but what are your thoughts?
