The role of an interior defensive lineman isn't to rack up a bunch of tackles or sacks. Yes the good ones will get some, as Tanuvasa did when he played a full season in 2023, and actually led all Utah DTs in tackles and sacks that year. But the role of a defensive linemen is to clog up the middle - often drawing double teams - freeing linebackers to fill gaps and make a play on the RB or QB. Anyone who knows ball knows that Tanuvasa is capable of causing a lot of problems and disrupting an offense when he's healthy and on the field.
