I had been asking about digital cameras advice or something (this was early 2010s), but honestly can’t recall. Whatever happened/I said, I received a BM offering a gift card.

My wife and I had been married about 3 years, had moved across the country for grad school, had no family nearby, had an almost 1 year old, and were about to have a very good and very humble Christmas.

I was able to have enough cash to get her a used very basic digital camera that served us for the next 3-4 years until our first camera phones. It was probably $120 total, but I stewed about that as it was a LOT for us then.

We were reminded of that experience this year looking through our old Christmas photos.

Between giving and receiving I’m not sure which has more lasting memory, but I am grateful to be able to have that charity come full circle and pass it on this year in our community.
