I think BYU has a stronger WR group next year than it had in 2024
Clearly the biggest recruiting coup of the year is getting Chase back. He was pretty adamant about this being his last year. If that was just him getting BYU to up their NIL payout then it was a savvy move by him. Either way he's back and should be the focal point of the offensive pass game. Despite his 800+ yds last year he was NOT the focal point of the pass game. I think Chase has earned the Austin Collie treatment and the play calls should align to that accordingly.

After Chase we return Marion (340 Rec Yds) who was making a greater impact in the pass and run game as the season went on. I expect him to move into the WR2 role. He also happens to be an All-American KR so that's nice.

Jojo Phillips is WR3 who showed flashes, but now has an opportunity to show consistency. He was great on the deep ball avg a team best 21.1 YPC, but just needs to find more reps. He's big and physical, but still young in the role.

Parker Kingston is my breakout WR. I think he's had flashes as well, but like Jojo needs to find consistency. I'm hoping he finds a regular role in the offense and Jake finds him in open space.

Cody Hagen and Dom McKenzie have both had a year to recover from their missions. Cody hit the ground running with a few catches this season. I expect a solid trajectory in his progression as a WR. Dom may be more of a project, but looked great as SR in HS and just needs more reps to develop. Both of these guys are speedsters (running in the mid-10/100) and can take the top off a defense. Cody is also pretty technical as well. I believe both RS'd this season.

Lamason Waller will be coming in from HS and reminds me of a Cody Hoffman a lot. Not saying he's going to be an all-timer yet but in his style of play. LIke Cody he runs great routes, wins tough balls, and beats you with his combo of agility and physicality. I like his future a lot.

We can also talk Carsen Ryan. He's not going to demand the ball get thrown to him a ton, but he's an every-down TE. He is an awesome blocker and seals the edge so well. We will absolutely love him in the run game, but he can catch and attack in space and we may see him do damage on a few seam routes next season as well.

I'm going to leave Lassiter off the board for now. He may get a "Paiava waiver", but it may even be beneficial if we moved on from Darius (who I thought was very solid) and allow our young WRs their moment to step in. Either way, I don't think there is any way you can review this WR group and not say it will only be better in 2025 after a very solid 2024.
