If you lose you play an equal strength team. No more Bama playing Mercer the week before they play Auburn. This ensures the best teams are playing other good teams each week and bad teams are playing equally bad teams. The top teams get the prime tv slots, bad teams get bad tv slots on alternate channels.
Nobody would finish the season undefeated but when it came down to playoff time you’d know what teams are good and what teams are bad. Only bad thing is you wouldn’t know your schedule on who you play next.
