Prediction: Knell gets drafted in the 2nd round (never thought I would say that)

Previously Knell was basically a "3" but not a "3andD" (or perceived as such). I'm sure Knell has been working hard to develop the D side of the equation because that will get him a shot at the NBA. But it appears that KY is helping him develop both his "3" and his "D."

3 Development: Knell is averaging 47% from three this year (last year was 38.5%). That is insane.

D Development: His steal total has risen from .6 to 1 per game. KY says he is BYU's strongest perimeter defender based on the analytics. That may be an indictment of our perimeter defense so far, but not to the extent that Knell doesn't deserve some credit for his improvement.

Bottom line: If Knell can keep his 3pt% up and show that statistically he is a plus defender, he has a really solid chance of getting drafted as a 2nd round player.

6'5" shooting 47% from three and can play defense? A team will use a pick on that. See Cam Spencer and Antonio Reeves from last year. Both are about 6'5", shot 44% from three, but were limited defensively. Both were drafted in the 2nd round. Basically, teams take shooters in the 2nd round. If they can play defense, even better. I'm not sold on NBA teams believing that Knell is a good defender. However, if he can show he isn't destined to be a poor defender, that will be enough, especially if he keeps his 3pt% above 45%.

Here is an article highlighting Knell as a top 10 shooter last year (before he raised his shooting percentage by almost 10%)
