We had a great team last year, but we relied too much on the three. Teams knew this and took great care in shutting down Knell and our three point barrage.
We are more multi threat this year. You’ve already seen it. Last year I was so frustrated that we could never get penetration and make an easy layup when we needed it. We can do that this year.
Teams want to sell out on defending the perimeter? Knell might have a tough game from 3, but Keita and Fous and our other slashers/rim runners will make them pay. Teams want to sell out on defending the paint? Guys like Knell, Egor, Richie, Baker, will have a hey day from 3.
Those guys who can really penetrate and create their own shot are going to give Knell the open shot he needs. Hopefully he can hit in clutch moments as well.
Personally I’m optimistic that once we fully figure out our identity, teams will have to make tough choices on what part of our game they’re going to try to defend against.
