The company I work for just announced that we are going strictly Hybrid/Remote and that they are selling the office...
So when I first started at this company, December of 2020, they were in the process of moving the HQ office from California to Texas, and the Texas office was literally like 20 minutes from where I lived. Their plan was to hire a few remote workers and then bring us, that lived nearby, into the office. So in 2021 we were told to start showing up into the office starting first week of August. No big deal... we all came into the office that week... by Friday they sent us home because 20 people got COVID. They tried the work in office again 2 months later and again a ton of people got sick. So they decided to go Hybrid work but every job that they posted was considered Remote.

Since then it's been about 98% remote work... for me I actually have a dedicated desk because I do like to come into the office at least a couple of times a month. I've recently moved and now my drive into the office takes me about 50 minutes. If I have a Dr. appointment, my Dr's office is just a couple of blocks away from the office, I'll go into the office to work so I don't have to take off a couple of hours off work.

Well today they announced that they are selling the office and down sizing into a significantly smaller office, and that they are planning to reallocated the funds that they spent for the larger office, and put it into the company and the employees.

Anyone else's company doing this or has done this? I'm still going to ask if I can get a dedicated desk of my own, because I do like to come into the office, however whenever I have I've been almost the only person in the office.

This year my company switched to Friday's being optional instead of a raise. (maYbe, Dec 12, 2024 at 8:33am)
