Of the 16 regular season sacks we had this year, 6.5 of them were by guys that either play DT or DE. I think the pass rush was better this season than it has been in the last few years, but we are still getting very little DL sacks when rushing 3 or 4.

I understood why a highly recruited defensive lineman wouldn't want to play in the previous scheme, and while I think it is now a better situation and likely to keep getting better, it's going to take a couple more years of improvement before I think they can really sell it to recruits. We don't return any of the five listed starters at DL next year, so hopefully they are able to get a couple of guys in the portal and next year isn't a step in the wrong direction.
