up and coming generation that if you win then you now have free rein to do unsportsmanlike things? And what do you have to ‘win’ to get this privilege? Win one down/play? A game? A conference championship? A national championship?
Why can’t we teach kids that competing and leaving everything on the field, between the first and final seconds of the game, from whistle to whistle, etc is great. But once it’s over, even with emotions still high, you have to rein it in and there is an expected sportsmanship code of conduct. Why does losing make it so that you now need to take whatever the victors want to do? Why does it mean the victors can do whatever they want to do?
