I feel there was a LOT of parity in the B12 this year.
Even ignoring the 4-way tie for first, and another 3 teams a game behind, and 2 more another game behind (including KSU!!!), there were a lot of close games between the worst and best teams.

A conference with so much parity beats up on itself.

But then the question is, where do you rank the teams? Should the B12 have 4 teams in the top 10? (probably not). 6 in the top 25? (one could make this argument). The committee has already decided it's a one bid conference. But I'm not sure they're right to do so.

I don't really have a point, and the rest of my post might seem to contradict any point I might have been trying to make.

*That said,* a 12 team playoff is infinitely better than 2 teams. Think back a few years--the arguments were always about "wait, how do you know the 3rd ranked team isn't actually the best in the country?" Or undefeated G5 team?

So it seems petty to argue that BYU is actually a top 11-12 team when what we're actually trying to determine is "who is the best". There's no argument in the world that would put BYU in the top 4, let alone top 2. Having 12 teams in the playoff is supposed to quell that argument.
