A Finnair pilot strike is kinda screwing me over. We have a 5 day (M-F) Northern Lights tour in a few weeks starting on
Dec 9 in northern Finland. We fly to Helsinki on Dec 8, then stay overnight, and Monday morning we fly Finnair to Ivalo. Then on Friday afternoon after the tour we catch another flight down to Vienna, Austria.

But with this pilot strike, we just got emails moving our Monday Ivalo flight to late Sunday night (11pm), and our Friday afternoon flight was moved to late Thursday night (11pm). This means that our Sunday Helsinki hotel is suddenly not needed, but we now need to book a much more expensive Ivalo hotel that night (and that day is now gonna suck with jet lag), and more annoying, we now miss one night (plus the accommodations that we’ve paid for) of this expensive northern lights tour and we have to book yet another hotel. It’s proving difficult to line up new flights because the strike is limiting everything.

Seems like the regulation-happy EU should be forcing them to be more accommodating.
