It lacks the “easy answer” element that the great BYU Offenses of the past have always had. The scheme pushes the ball down the field in more creative ways than the old West Coast/Air Raid systems but it lacks the chain movers and easy throws that the Chow & Anae offenses thrived with. Theoretically the run game is supposed to take care of those situations but it hasn’t been consistent enough since Allgeier left. Our real go-to play is the speed option, but that can be easily schemed for once we’ve shown that tendency as we’ve seen the last few weeks. Y-Stick, RB option routes, the WR quick game with Slants, Ins, Outs & Hitches seems to be a huge gaping hole in the offense that could make this team so much more efficient.
Maybe Jake’s arm slot makes running these routes difficult?
