Playoff committee behind the scenes, what's to stop them from having an equal influence over officiating?

We're seeing that, more than ever, money is controlling the sport. If they can wield their influence over the committee, why not officiating?

I guess some will say get already do, but upsets, like Vandy over Alabama, makes me think it's not too out of control yet. But with the money involved, when do they start trying to influence the refs more? Do any of them care enough about the integrity of the sport to stay out of officiating?
