I was watching the Seahawks/49ers game and the commentator mentioned the best OCs i.e. Shanahan, Reid, McVey, line up and it’s very difficult to determine if it’s a run or pass. The commentator was critical of the Seahawks offense because it is predictable based on the way the players line up. A run looks like a traditional run play and vice versa.

I believe this is part of our problem on offense. We’re telegraphing our plays and it begins with how we’re lining up. Most of us on here can predict most of our plays based on watching games, tendencies, and how our guys line up. Our opponents have staff that is paid well to see these issues and exploit them.

The second part of our problem I believe is where ARod’s play calling foundation and coaching developed: Utah. It has become a joke throughout college football about how poorly Utah’s offense is and has been for years. I believe ARod’s teachers at Utah are/were mediocre at best.

I would hope ARod would reach out to the best offensive minds to learn how to call a strategically sound game and he has in my opinion the greatest offensive play caller in history, Andy Reid potentially available. If he has reached out for guidance it doesn’t show on the field.

I have no doubt Reid’s type of play calling last Saturday would have led to a win and it would likely have been convincing.

Before people get too critical of me, I fully acknowledge that proper execution of plays is essential for success. However, calling the right play and disguising your strategy is foundational to proper execution.
