Coach Sitake said yesterday that the team would "learn from it" - last Saturday's loss.
But why do we have to LOSE to "learn" things that are obvious to football?
It's the coaching staff's job to use their long experience to stress to 20-somethings and late teenagers just where the mental and emotional land mines are.
1. Teams are naturally emotionally and physically exhausted after a big, close win against a rival.
2. If you have more than one bad practice during a week, then the negative team dynamic issue is on the coaches, not the players. Hall of Fame coach Lou Holtz was famous for canceling or calling practice early if he didn't see the overall vibe that should be there. You can't just roll with it but need to shake things up.
