My wife and kids went for their annual eye exams this week. I have vision insurance that covers 1 eye exam with no copay every 12 months. I got a bill asking for a copay for each person. When I called them, they said it was billed under a medical exam because the eye doctor is a MD and not an optometrist. I asked if she could bill it under the vision insurance and got told they couldn’t do that. So, next year when we get our eye exams, it’s on us to ask what kind of doctor we would be seeing. How incredibly stupid insurance can be.
