Cosmo Kramer Intervention Needed
I remember when LaVell Edwards and Ron McBride attended some kind
of event after the rivalry game, or after the bowl games were done, and the losing coach had to sing the other schools fight song. It was still a heated rivalry, but I respected both coaches for doing that.

McBride and LaVell respected and liked each other, but that didn't lessen the competitive fire they had, or diminish their desire to win the rivalry game. That was what I consider to have been a golden age of the rivalry in football, but I'll be the first to admit it didn't hurt that LaVell won far more of those games than he lost.

I remember when the stands were sparsely filled, up on the hill, when the snow was deep and the BYU was all but assured a victory, yet there were still some die hards in the stands, cheering on their team. Those are the fans I respected the most, and I always hoped I would be as good of a fan as they were.
