It was the right thing to do. That play did not cost the yewts the game nor win it for the Cougars. Even after the penalty and getting a new set of downs BYU still had a long ways to go to get into field goal range. Additionally there was little time on the clock and BYU had no time outs. So the odds were still against BYU winning the game

The yewt defense should have been able to keep the Cougars from getting in field goal range. But the BYU offense made a couple of nice plays to pick up the yards needed. The accurate and long kicking ability of Will Ferrin did the rest.

Sure the yewts were upset having thought they had won the game. But that's football, it's not over until the fat lady sings.

Were the yewts upset over the bad call earlier in the game when the BYU player got a face mask penalty when clearly from replays he had never held the yewt player's face mask? No they weren't. Harlan, Whitt and the yewts were perfectly fine with that call. But that could have cost BYU a score which also may have been a game winner.

So it works both ways. Whine about it all you want but look at the scoreboard, the game is over and you lost.

Harlan is a whiner and a bad loser. He should not be the Utah AD. They might think about replacing him.
