MaximusMeridius Intervention Needed
Now that the dust has settled, here are some thoughts, concerns, & observations:

  1. What the heck is going on with LJ Martin?  He MUST be banged up and is on some sort of pitch count because he went MIA at the end of the UCF game and also for most of the 2nd half of the Utah game.  He's far and away the best RB we have...its frustrating not to see him out there. It's got to be some undisclosed injury.
  2. OL pass protection has been solid for most of the year, but it was absolutely awful last game. Is that completely attributed to how good Utah's DL is?  As the game went on we had injuries that factored into that, but they were struggling even before the injuries.
  3. Jatta filled in for Keim beautifully. 0 QB pressures from him. This is an overlooked reason why the O was able to move the ball on that final drive...Jake finally had a few seconds to stand in the pocket.
  4. Jake clearly struggles when he's under pressure. Even when the pressure didn't get to him, he seemed rushed and made poor throws. Luckily most of those were catchable, but it prevented any sort of yards after the catch.  Some of this is the fault of ARod in my opinion. Against super aggressive defenses, ARod needs to make sure he calls plays with a safety valve that Jake can always dump it off to. Way too often Jake was scrambling with literally zero options to throw to.
  5. Jakob Robinson is just about as lock-down as you can get. He was only targeted once all game. This dude has rarely had any passes thrown his way this season because he's always got his dude locked down.
  6. Every time our opponent has had a new QB come in, that QB has been really effective against our defense. One of the players said in his postgame interview that they did most of their prep work focused on Isaac Wilson, but still did some prep for Rose.  The defense struggled in the first half, then settled down and absolutely shut them down.  Does prepping for 1 QB over another really make that much of a difference? Seems like Wilson and Rose are fairly similar. But we've seen this happen throughout the season. At least we know who's QBing for Kansas this week
  7. We need more Chase Roberts intermediate crossing routes. This dude gets open every single time.
  8. We need more QB option outside run plays. We run it a couple times every game, but it virtually always works.  It's clearly difficult for defenses to stop, so I'd love to see ARod call this more often.
  9. Going forward, teams will have to be insane to kick off the ball to Keelan. What a weapon...as Kalani said, he's been about 1 broken tackle away from housing it numerous times this season.
