convince themselves that 2023 was a fluke, that they LITERALLY can't comprehend that BYU might be better than them. Even this year, with us being 9-0 and the Utes being 4-4, they STILL had convinced themselves that they were the better team. And for a chunk of the game it worked very well.

BYU did need a miracle to win, but that doesn't mean we didn't deserve it. Just like BYU argued several times that flukey things cost us the win during certain years (see Brandon Bradley, etc), because like the Utes now, BYU got so used to winning against the Utes for a long time that we thought we deserved it, these Utes just can't make it work in their brains that they didn't deserve the win. Flukes rarely actually cost you the game. Subpar play combined with a couple of flukes DO cost you the game. Both Utah and BYU's offense was subpar on Saturday night, but BYU's defense stepped up in the second half when Utah's didn't at the end of the game.

For a moment in his presser Kyle actually owned it, he said, “... (The defense) couldn’t get that last stop when we needed it, unfortunately. It’s kind of been the story for the last several games. We just can’t get that one last stop.” Deep down he actually believes that his team deserved to lose, but his ego can't let him accept it.
