Ferrin has something going on mentally that we haven’t really seen before. Great kickers can lock in even when the
pressure is on. Shut out the distractions. Ignore the pressure. Focus only on the job rather than the circumstances. If called upon they’ll get it done despite the pressure of the situation.

But this dude grinning ear to ear in excited anticipation is a different beast.

Most kickers don’t want that pressure and don’t want the game left up to their long kick. They’re praying the offense can punch it in or at least make it a chip shot.

But Ferrin looked like he almost *hoped* we didn’t score a TD so he could come in and stroke a 40 yarder to be the hero.

This face isn’t showing nerves of steel. That’s nerves that don’t experience fear or anxiety in the first place. Just confidence and excitement.
