Three questions about the holding call:
I was at the game, in the northeast of the stadium, about 15 rows up. The infraction happened right in front of us. But our view was partially blocked by the players/staff standing on the sideline.

1. Which referee threw the flag? Was it the side judge (as I would expect)?
2. Where did the flag land? I never did see it on the field, and was surprised to hear them announce it over the P.A. system.
3. Was it a late flag, or was it thrown right at the time of the infraction, as you would expect?

For anyone at the game, it was a confusing final 90 seconds. None of us saw Kalani call the timeout or heard the ref blow the whistle... for everyone in the stands it looked like Retzlaff couldn't find a receiver and stepped out the back of the endzone for a safety. It seemed bizarre that the play was allowed to continue all the way to conclusion... the Ute fans were (somewhat understandably) losing their minds.

And then on the holding call, no one in my area saw either the penalty or the flag, so it was again a huge surprise when they announced the holding call. The Ute fans in my part of the stands thought they had won the game TWICE, celebrated like crazy both times, and then had the rug pulled out from under their feet both times, only to see the game lost at the end. We had some absolutely HORRIFIC Ute fans in our section, but truthfully my heart goes out to them... what a gut punch way to lose a rivalry game.
