Declined the 10 second runoff and then utilized their timeouts. They totally gave us time to calm down and think clearly through what we needed to do. They gave us the space to execute cleanly when we had clearly demonstrated that we were terrible at that in the first half.

I have zero faith that we would have navigated that situation cleanly had we had to do it frenetically, with the clock running and zero timeouts, and RES in complete pandemonium. Each timeout quieted the crowd and gave us time to think and to execute. Such a boneheaded move. Especially since their offense had demonstrated that it was incapable of moving down the field to get points. That was an incredibly high leverage situation, and they should have simply been all in on it, and not worried about trying to preserve time.
