In 2020, when BYU played a very soft schedule, but crushed pretty much everyone on it prior to the release of the CFP rankings, the problem was their schedule. The margins of the wins just didn't matter.
Now, when BYU has two top 20 wins, including one on the road over the first team out of the 12 team field, we are behind Indiana because of how dominant they've been against their admittedly soft schedule? Got it.
And for anyone who argues that BYU's 2020 schedule was much different than Indiana's 2024 schedule, I disagree. Indiana's SOS is 103 this year. There are about 130 D-1 schools. BYU's 2020 schedule, although perhaps worse by comparison, could not have been substantively worse given the number of D-1 teams.
The bias is real and it pisses me off.
