want to be considered for the CFP. Let's face it, there are FBS teams out there that have little to no chance year on year and would be better off saving money.
But the reality is that there should be more interconference games and no FCS opponents for teams vying for the CFP. Every team in a P4 conference should play a minimum of 3 games against teams in at least 2 other conferences. And the selection of those team should be based on criteria for ranking the teams early.
The BigXII rankings this year would have produced some interesting match ups considering BYU was 13th of 16 and probably would have been matched to a team like Vandy which was probably originally low ranked in the SEC.
Travel should be considered, every team should have to make at least ONE trip east or west of the Missisippi (not counting TX) based on their own location. The SEC shouldn't be allowed to play all their games in just the eastern US, I don't think OU, TX, AR, or A&M really count as a E/W trip, needs to be real.
There are criteria that could easily be programmed in for SOS, previous history, returning players, etc.
It's 2024, surely we can use computers to limit cupcake games.
