By the logic of many CFB pundits, the 1980 Olympic gold hockey medal should have gone to the soviets, not the miracle on ice USA team that actually won the tournament. It is widely agreed the Soviet team was “better” and would have won the vast majority of games if they played 10 times.
But sports are NOT about who is the “best.” It’s about who performs in the moment when everything is on the line. That’s why we actually play the game. It doesn’t matter who you think is the better team. What matters is what happens on the field.
I really hope the CFP committee focuses on resume and not who they think is the “better” team.
