Before the season I was almost dreading how much time I knew that I was going to put in on Saturdays watching this team that might only have 4 wins.

Through that lens, at Cougar Kickoff I saw a bunch of undersized football players. I convinced myself there were no alphas in the group. Retzlaff signing the posters did not seem like anything special compared to meeting Slovis the year prior. All the predictions were going to be spot on based on what I was seeing.

I felt like ARod had some misfortune with the QB recruits with Conover not working out and Dart not transferring and Wilson going to Utah. Despite all of that, I still wanted ARod to have a long career at BYU.

I was not saying any of this out loud. Fast forward to today. I could not have been more wrong. The defense has been lights out and the offense is looking better every week. All of my predictions were dead wrong. All my negative thoughts are dead wrong. We have some swagger walking into the rivalry game. My mind still won’t let me believe in the CFP invite. But the fact that is actually a discussion, it just blows my mind because there were zero expectations for this team. I hope they don’t eat the media rat poison and keep doing what they are doing.
