Type 1 Diabetes exciting news.

⭐️BREAKING NEWS⭐️
⭐️WORK TOWARDS A CURE⭐️

You guys remember when I posted about Eledon pharmaceuticals and their drug Tegoprubart? Huge press release today out of the stem cell association meeting in Chicago! I wasn’t kidding about this drug! They dosed their first patient in April, and now they’ve dosed a total of 3 patients to date.

This is very exciting news! None of the grafts have been rejected, the first 2 patients are cured from T1D, and the third patient should be all the way off insulin in just a few weeks. This is HUGE!!!

Here are the details from Eledon:

✅First two out of three subjects treated with tegoprubart as part of immunosuppression regimen to prevent transplant rejection achieved insulin independence and remain insulin free, with glucose control in the normal range; Third subject was recently transplanted and is on trajectory for insulin independence

✅Islet engraftment in the first two subjects with tegoprubart estimated three to five times higher than engraftment in three comparable subjects receiving standard of care tacrolimus-based immunosuppression

✅Treatment with tegoprubart was generally well tolerated

Me: Basically ever since islet cell transplants have existed for the past several decades, you have to poison the patient before they even receive the cells so that the cells don’t immediately get killed by your immune system. You have to continue taking this poison if you want the cells to continue to survive.

Tacrolimus is the big problem here, it can cause nephrotoxicity, toxicity to your central nervous system, hypertension, and diabetes over time. That is the drug that’s being replaced by this new drug being tested: Tegoprubart. They’re finding that it has no side effects so far, and no toxicity. And when you don’t poison the body with a horrible drug like tacrolimus, the cells function much better, they are showing 3 to 5 times greater efficacy in function than the typical islet cell patient on tacro.

✅How does Tegoprubart work?

⭐️⭐️⭐️Here’s some inside information I’ve obtained that you’ll only find here:

🧬Why did the first patient have to receive two transplants?

The first patient had a very high BMI. Not enough islets isolated the first time. They were off insulin 3 days after the 2nd transplant.

🧬 Has there been any side effects?

No side effects, all have normal A1cs.

🧬Are they monitoring the immunology bloodwork of the patients to determine how the drug is affecting their immune systems in general, do we know what this data is showing?

All Immunology data being collected and analyzed regularly. All levels are normal and no adverse events

🧬Were all patient given the same dosing regimen?

All patients were given the same dosing regimen.

🧬Will they be dosing more patients?

There are 4 more patients lined up ready to go. JDRF will be paying for the next 6 patients.

🧬 What companies would be interested in partnering with or buying this drug from Eledon?

Here are some thoughts on potential suitors. Obviously there are more...but this is a good start

Astellas should buy it because they own tacrolimus

SANOFI should buy it because they will own MS with their drug and they also make insulin and they also are going after early onset diabetes...

Vertex should buy it because they have an advanced stem cell derived islet manufacturing capability program and the combined would be a complete cure

Novo Nordisk should buy them because they make half their sales on diabetes insulin and many other products the other half in obesity. They are sitting on ridiculous cash and stock is at all time high

Lilly should buy them because they too have a huge insulin and diabetes biz. They are at all time highs too with Monjauro

Dexcom should buy them because without type 1 s they have no business

United Therapeutics should buy them because we complement their organ manufacturing xeno etc

MercK should buy them because they too have a robust diabetes biz and have a ton of cash

JNJ should buy them as many of their drugs are off or going off patent like stelara and they need something like this.

⭐️⭐️⭐️Oh, and I also found out Vertex met with Eledon today…🤔
