In honor of the last time BYU won at RES, I wanted to share the moment that solidified my BYU fandom forever and has put me on this insane ride that I will never get off.
I don't post a lot on here, but I wanted to share my story with people that I know will appreciate it.
I grew up in a family of 10 kids and we didn't have a lot of money--which meant no cable tv. The only way we got access to BYU Football was listening to the voice of Greg Wrubell on 1160AM on gameday and during the next week the watching Furious Monkey and Garn highlights.
Then there was the BYU Utah Game in 06.
11 years old and it literally felt like my entire life was on the line. I remember that last drive so vividly as I sat listening to the radio in the back seat of our suburban, ferociously clutching my pillow, and praying that BYU would somehow pull it off.
CAUGHT FOR THE TOUCHDOWN!! CAUGHT FOR THE TOUCHDOWN!! CAUGHT FOR THE TOUCHDOWN
Screams. Celebration. Pandemonium. I will absolutely never forget that.
I often wonder how invested I would be in BYU football now or if I would even be a fan without that play. I wanted to go to college at BYU because of that play, I got my degree at BYU because of that play, and I will forever be a BYU fan because of that play. Thank you Greg Wrubell, John Beck, and Jonny Harline. Harline is still open.
GO COUGS. BEAT THAT TEAM UP NORTH.
