I remember just a month ago a lot of people were saying they hoped we wouldn’t see anymore touches from him (have to admit I was a naysayer myself).
Now he’s viewed as a highly reliable RB2. Other then the fumble at Baylor and the interception against OK State (the latter of which he never should have been placed in that situation in the first place) he’s been good enough to force defenses to account for the run even when LJ Martin needs a breather. That’s the biggest thing in my mind. A serviceable RB2 allows A-Rod to keep the playbook wide open at all times.
He has great timing with Retzlaff on the speed option plays, and is a good threat to catch a screen pass and turn it into big yards. He may not have LJ’s vision and skill, but he has power in droves and more than adequate speed in space.
Really, really pleased with his progress the last few weeks.
Hope to see him break off a big one soon.
