Lux tripping while rounding second on Edman’s single, forcing him back to 2B,
helped make Freeman’s homer so epic.

If he doesn’t trip, the Dodgers would have had runners at 1st and 3rd with one out, and Lux would have scored the tying run on Ohtani’s fly out to Verdugo (in the stands).

I don’t know if the Yankees would have pitched to Betts at that point (probably not), but even if they would have walked Betts to get to Freddie, a home-run walk off with the game already tied isn’t quite as magical as a home-run walk off when you’re on the cusp of losing the game.

I was worried that Lux tripping was going to cost the Dodgers a run and the game, but it ended up helping to make for a magical moment.
