Leading up to the OSU game as I read more about Mike Gundy and his history of having a much better second half of the season than first, and his 8-1 record after the bye week, and the fact that despite his poor performances prior to Friday, Gordon was and still is an NFL back, all combined to make me nervous. And Gundy certainly did pull out all the stops and just about coached his team to an upset.
I also think that that game was the let down game for BYU. The defense had gotten a little loose over the last couple weeks. Even though they only allowed 19 to Arizona they're still were signs of issues, and with the novel game plan Gundy kind of exposed particularly the front seven. According to Kalani and a couple of other analysts it looked like some of the BYU defenders were freelancing too much and not taking care of their 1/11th. Guys who were doing their jobs prior to the last 2 weeks seem to get caught trying to do too much.
I fully expect the coaches to fix these problems and the players will have plenty of film to see their mistakes and to rectify the errors in their play.
UCF cannot throw the ball, and I believe BYU will hold UCF to under 200 yards rushing. Meanwhile the offense will score plenty of points especially now that Martin and Ropati are both back and healthy.
