15 years ago, I was coaching one of my boy's baseball teams. Live pitching 11 year olds and we were competing for the league title with a couple teams, one of which we were playing. We were up in the late innings comfortably, there was a 14 year old umpire the league used to help get them some experience from the high school freshman ranks.

Runner for them tries to steal second. Our catcher made a good throw but our 2nd baseman only caught it while thinking it was a force out and didn't tag the runner. Ump calls the kid out. The opposing coach goes ballistic and ripped into this 14 year old in front of fans and players, screaming that he missed the call. I walked out to the situation and told the ump that it was not a force out and that our fielder didn't tag the runner so I was OK if the ump changed his call to safe and the ump then changed his call to safe.

3 days later, after we had won the game comfortably, I was informed by the league the opposing coach protested the game because I got the ump to overturn a judgment call. Said that was a violation to ask the ump to overturn the call.

Sure glad I don't deal with opposing coaches now that I am older and kids are in 20's, 30's and 40's.
