My twin daughters have gone with me to BYU games since they were little and watched games on TV with me but they’ve always been pretty casual fans. They watched if there was nothing better to do but it was low on their priority list.

They are both attending BYU now and have been in the ROC for each game, they have loved it. This past Friday they and one of their roommates all got sick, I was surprised how sad they both were to be sick for the game but they gave their tickets to friends and stayed home.

Flash forward to 2 am, I’m sitting in a hotel room in Fort Lauderdale Florida watching the game, my wife had gone to bed an hour earlier.

When Lassiter scores I start screaming, waking up the wife and as I’m screaming my phone rings. My twin girls and their roommates are screaming on the phone “WE SCORED!!! I can’t believe it we scored!!!” I could hear the other girls screaming as well, their neighbors come running in and they are screaming, just total football mayhem on the phone and in my hotel room! My daughter says to me, “Dad, this is so amazing I want to cry!”

At that moment I wanted to cry, 25% because of what Retzlaff and Lassiter had just done on that last play but 75% because my daughters were just as excited as I was!

Long story short, lifelong fans are being created right now. Let’s keep it rolling, BEAT UCF!!!!!

Oh, and to end the story, 5 minutes later the hotel phone rang and the desk manager told me I needed to quiet down!!!! 🤣
