Review #2 of the BYU Women’s Cross-Country win at Pre-Nationals - looking at our top 10 runners.
1. Lexy Halladay-Lowry, 9th
This seemed like a decent race for her, and she seemed to run within herself. Originally, I hoped she would be top 10 at NCAAs but now I’m adjusting that to top 15.

2. Carmen Alder, 14th
Really good race for her. In what may have been the highlight of her college career she won this race last season; however, she’s been kind of quiet in cross-country since. At 4k she was 29th and moved up 15 spots in the last 2k - great way to finish a race. A pleasant surprise so far this season after coming off of injury.

3. Jenna Hutchins, 20th
She went from 16th to 18th to 20th at the 2k, 4k, and 6k marks. She faded a little but held it together to have a decent race. Was hoping we would see her closer to Lexy this season.

4. Riley Chamberlain, 27th
Decent race for her. She moved up 7 spots in the last 2k and only finished six seconds behind Jenna.

5. Nelah Roberts, 35th
The true freshman has a really good race and solidifies her spot in the top 10 BYU gals who will compete in the post-season. Because of her inconsistency she might be a risky pick to run at NCAAs but we’ll see what she does at Big12s. She did move up 14 spots in the last 2k, which may be a sign of good things to come.

6. Taylor Rohatinsky, 40th
Got passed by Nelah at the end of the race but still snuck into the top 40. By this time of the season I was hoping to see Taylor running up by Riley Chamberlain, but her fitness isn’t quite there yet coming off of injury. Can she improve over the next month for NCAAs? We’ll see.

7. Taylor Lovell, 46th
She has made really good progress from last year’s cross-country season, which was springboarded by her emergence in the Steeplechase this past spring. Solid race for her.

8. Grace Hutchison, 2nd (B race)
She took 2nd place in the B race and actually ran three seconds faster than Anastaysia Davis who ran in the A race. I anticipate Grace running at Big12s and Regionals but not at NCAAs.

9. Anastaysia Davis, 96th
She ran a decent race. Like Grace I anticipate she runs at Big12s and Regionals but not at NCAAs.

10. Carlee Hansen, 3rd (B race)
We thought she would be a top 5 runner this season; however, this is her first race of the year. She snuck into the team’s top 10, which means she should be running at Big12s. I expect to see her make a big jump in that race (top 7 on the team), sit Regionals, and finish in the top 5 at NCAAs to help get BYU on the podium.
