SBB Intervention Needed
Why rankings matter: The CFP committee uses the following process:
From the CFP website: "The selection committee ranks the teams based on the members’ evaluation of the teams’ performance on the field, using conference championships won, strength of schedule, head-to-head results, and comparison of results against common opponents to decide among teams that are comparable."

Performance on the field- USC lost to Penn State- USC but early this year was ranked 11th. Penn climbed higher in the rankings having beat Illinois as well. What is the common factor that has elevated Penn so high? Outside of name recognition what can you point to? Yes they are 6-0 but if you removed the names of the schools they beat no one would think wow in comparison to BYU.

So if Penn state loses to Ohio State- they will finish 11-1. Say they lose close. I don’t think it’s a stretch that they will be ranked top 12-10

BYU has beaten two top 25 teams that are still ranked and most likely will still be ranked. If BYU fishes 12-1 which team will the committee say should be ranked higher? BYU will have a good loss to ISU & two great wins and some good wins.

It will be Penn state stating the SOS is better.

You could argue both BYU & Penn will be included. Maybe- but there’s a program that gets pushed out at some point that will deserve it based on this years performance but because of bias for blue bloods won’t get the seasons credit they’ve earned.
